Sligo Business Women took over City Hall for their lunchtime meeting on International Women’s Day 2023. Organised By Sligo Women in Business Network, the event gathered members from all over Sligo to celebrate the economic, social and professional achievements of members. In a lively panel discussion, Clotilde Rambaud of Clo’s chocolates, Sharon Eastwood of Woodrow Sustainable Solutions and Charlene Flanagan of Ella and Jo cosmetics pulled no punches when discussing the challenges in running a business. This was counterbalanced by their practical professional approach, which was echoed by all members.

“Value your time, use your vote, use the supports of mentoring, training and funding from your Local Enterprise Office” were some of the many invaluable takeaways from the panel.
Discussions looked at acknowledging your professional and personal work experiences, and making the transition from sole trader to fulltime employer. Underpinning the business and economics aspects the work of members, it was also noted that businesses and budding businesses in the Chamber, as part of their management ethos, create a thriving workplace for themselves and their employees, reflecting the values of International Women’s Day.
The network was welcomed to the chamber by Cllr Marie Casserly Leas Cathaoirleach, Sligo County Council and attended by Cllr Sinéad Maguire. Fran Best was MC and the panel discussion was led by Maeve McCormack.
